After finishing secondary school and graduating from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, his first job was in government administration in the city of Kraljevo.
Started his own business in 1992, when he founded Nelt company together with his friend and present partner, Mr. Ranko Socanac.
Nelt engages in wholesale trade and distribution. During twenty years of operations, Nelt has become the standard for distribution in Serbia, as well as in the region, collaborating with major international companies like P&G, Kraft Foods, Wrigley, SC Johnson, DrOetker, etc. Today, the following companies are members of Nelt Group: Neoplanta meat industry, Novi Sad, Corner Shop – a retail sale chain of 95 shops of convenience-type stores and Javna skladista, a warehousing joint stock company.
Nelt has been active for years in the region through its companies in Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and since 2010 Nelt is present on the market of Africa where as an official distributor of P&G has companies in Angola, Zambia and Mozambique and operations in Zimbabwe and Malawi. Today, Nelt is one of the most significant privately owned companies in Serbia with more than 3000 employees, 100 principals, 900 vehicles, 115 000 sq.m. of office and warehouse space and annual turnover of over EUR 400 million.
Nebojša Šaponjić is President of the Board of Directors of the “Partizan” Yugoslav Sports Association and Member of Executive Board of the Serbian Olympic Committee.
He is married, father of two sons, Aleksa and Luka, who are members of Serbian National Team in water polo and students of Berkeley University, USA.
